DIY: Cartier Love Bracelet for < $1.00

Actual Cartier Love Bracelets

As you may or may not have seen earlier this week I teased that we would be showing you how to make a MUCH MUCH cheaper version of the Cartier Love Bracelet. The real guy? Retails from $300 – $500 depending on how fancy you are. (Oh, you fancy huh?) ANYWAYZ, there is this great website, that we’ll be profiling later on, but I found a DIY Cartier Love Bracelet and decided to give it a whirl.

The directions are below:

Well I tried it and was mostly satisfied with the result. I went to JoAnne Fabrics and found some AWESOME colored cords, although I don’t think it was silk or satin or whatever its called. They were SUPER easy to make. The knot is like a sailors knot or a noose knot or whatever its called. It’s the kinda knot where you can adjust it and stuff. I tried burning the edges, but my cord didn’t melt like the one pictured, so I ended up tying them as tightly as I could and snipping the extra. I also bought little gold PEACE signs. It was $2 for a pack of 6 and I purchased a yard of 6 different colored cord, although I only ended up using 1/2 a yard. All of this cost me………SEVEN DOLLARS. AND, like I said, I only used 1/2 a yard of each of the colors. So, thats like < $1, unless someone wants to correct my math. What’s great about these bracelets is that you can create them for as much or as little money as you want. They had more expensive cord, but I opted for the cheaper kind. The also had an entire wall of super cool beads that I could of used. For reference though, not just any bead would work, you would need one with a hole in the middle. My only complaint is that since the cord is so silky/satiny/shiny sometimes the bracelet doesn’t stay as tight as I’d like it to, so I’m adjusting the fit often, other than that they’ve been really fun to wear and I’ve already received mucho compliments on them. So…. CRAFT AWAY!! Let us know some of your favorite combos!
